How CodeZ QR™ Works
COPI has developed a unified and consistent architecture for generating QR barcodes. COPI’s CodeZ QR subroutine uses fonts instead of images for maximum efficiency in printing QR codes to any printer in the corporate enterprise regardless of resolution or protocol. The COPI subroutine can be invoked directly from any application in the organization from mainframe composition systems to desktop word processors. As such, CodeZ QR is capable of working seamlessly with software systems as diverse as Exstream, Streamweaver or MS Word.
Organization’s can add QR capability to their applications by invoking the COPI CodeZ QR subroutine. When invoking the subroutine the information that is to be encoded in a QR code is seamlessly passed to the subroutine and a string of printable characters is returned. When these characters are printed with the COPI supplied font, the encoded QR font emerges.

- Operates on all computing platforms including Windows, Unix, Linux, OS/390, OS/400, …
- Provides for ASCII or EBCDIC input
- Provides interfaces for all leading mainframe document composition systems such as Streamweaver, CSF, Exstream, …
- Includes the font(s) for printing the QR codes
A QR code consists of an array of nominally square modules arranged in an overall square pattern, including a unique finder pattern located at three corners of the symbol. This unique finder pattern is what provides the benefits of QR over simple datamatrix codes while insuring readability by all standard post processing 2D bar code readers. IN ADDITION, QR codes are readable by cell phones and PC cameras!
QR codes are "leading but not bleeding" edge barcode technology as they are already extensively used in Asia and the Pacific Rim and rapidly being adopted in Europe as well.
